LeMoyne Dale Waak, resident of Sterling Heights and former longtime resident of Eastpointe, went to his Heavenly home on August 4, 2017. He was 89 years of age.
LeMoyne was born on March 10, 1928 in Polk, Nebraska, son of the late Carl and Frieda (Stach) Waak. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife Vera Caroline Lovercamp on June 10, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Alma, Missouri. LeMoyne was a Lutheran School Educator for 41 years, filing roles of Sunday School Director, Choir Director, Elder, Organist, Principal, Teacher and Coach during his many years of service in Osmond, NE, Kenesaw, NE, Menlo Park, CA and ending his career at Lutheran High School East in Harper Woods, MI. He was a long-time member and Chaplain of the Lutheran Fraternities of America #57 and past president of the Lutheran Luncheon Club. His ministry and dedication was an example to all his follow colleagues and students and he touched many lives while spreading the word of God.
As a family man, LeMoyne was a devoted husband of 66 years, supportive father and a proud grandfather. He always followed the grandchildren's sports and was their biggest fan. He enjoyed woodworking and scroll sawing. LeMoyne was also an avid reader who enjoyed exploring his family's genealogy. He especially loved traveling with Vera to visit relatives in Nebraska and Missouri as well as going on Motorcoach tours with church friends. LeMoyne will be deeply missed.
LeMoyne is the loving husband of 66 years to Vera; dearest father of Craig (Lori) Waak of Shelby Township, Pamela Mahowald of Grand Blanc and Scott (Donna) Waak of Sterling Heights; adored grandfather of Amy, Jeremy, Nathan, Ryan, Corey and Brandon; cherished great grandfather of Grayson; and brother of Carl Waak.
Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Monday 2pm - 8pm with a LFA memorial service at 6:30pm. A Funeral will be held at St. John Lutheran Church of Fraser on Tuesday at 11am with additional visitation at 10am.
