Roger Edward Scherz, longtime resident of Roseville, died peacefully October 3, 2017. He was 80 years of age.
Roger was born on October 13, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Edward and Mabel (Theut) Scherz. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Roger was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Judith Lynn Hautala, on September 8, 1971 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Roseville. The couple made their home in Roseville and was blessed with two beautiful children of whom he loved and cherished. Roger had a successful career at Oakland Dodge where he worked in the parts department for 38 years. When Roger wasn't working, he enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family; especially shopping with Judy. He was so proud to be a grandfather and was their biggest fan. Roger was always easy going and will always be known for his smile, compassion and love. His light will always continue to glow steadfast in our hearts.
Roger is the loving husband of Judy; dearest father of Jacklyn (Timothy) Donahue and Matthew (Melissa) Scherz; cherished grandfather of Leighton, Teagan and Carter; and dear brother of Ronald Scherz and Mamie Monroe.
