William Cornacchia, age 91, passed away on January 1, 2017. Bill was born to Carmine and Christine (nee Valvona) on February 13, 1925, in Detroit. After high school, Bill enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served honorably during WWII. After the war, Bill enlisted in the US Navy during the Cold War and retired after serving 30 years in the military. He worked and retired from J.L. Hudson as an electronics technician.
On September 19, 1969, Bill married the love of his life, Rose Collica, and stood by her side for over 47 years.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife Rose, and his three cherished step-children, Martin, Joanna, and Steven, who loved him very much, two step-granddaughters, Bionna and Ciera. Bill also had ten nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Rose LaMarra, Albert Cornacchia, and Teresa Airaghi; nephew Johnny Airaghi, and great nephew David Airaghi.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11am at Resurrection Cemetery. A memorial luncheon will be held following the service. Memorial contributions will be addressed to the Disabled Veterans.
