Obituary for Marie Hlatky (Appelt, Schneider)
Marie Henrietta Hlatky nee Appelt of Warren passed away peacefully on February 8, 2018. She was 88 years of age.
Marie was born on May 31, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Ervin and Bertha (Woiederski) Appelt. Her first marriage was to Robert Schneider Sr. and had three children, she then married Joseph Hlatky on August 17, 1957, Joe preceded her death on November 8, 2010 and they had three children.
Marie spent numerous dedicated years working at K-Mart Corporation and Bethlehem Lutheran Learning Center for children at church before retiring. Her hobbies included making candles, latch hook for rugs and baking yummy cookies for her angelic children (not), quick wit and loved joking around, she especially loved playing screw your neighbor (you did not want to sit next to Grandma, hahaha). She was a diehard fan of the Detroit Tigers and MSU Go Blue. Loved playing the piano till she could no longer see. Loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She loved reading her bible and going to Bethlehem Lutheran Church going to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Roseville. Marie will be deeply missed.
Marie is survived by her sons, Kenneth Schneider and Robin Schneider (Jody) and daughter Barbara Beatty nee Hlatky (Tom), daughters-in-law Karen Schneider and Brenda Hlatky, grandchildren and great grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews, sisters Esther (Gene) Harmon (Appelt) and Ruth Spurlin (Appelt). She was preceded in death by her parents numerous uncles and aunts, brothers Harold (Fannie), Herman (Eleanor) and David (Laurel) Appelt, sons Robert Schneider and Gregory Hlatky and daughter Becky Millar nee Hlatky.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 8pm at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Michigan, 48026. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 29675 Gratiot Ave, Roseville, MI 48066, at 11 am. Marie will lie instate at church beginning at 10am until time of funeral service. Internment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township. Share memories at faulmannwalsh.com
