Warren Rae Pursell, a longtime Fraser resident, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. He was 87 years old.
Warren was born on May 23, 1930 in Detroit to George Washington and Julianna (nee Burin) Pursell. He proudly served in the United States Army before he met the love of his life, Ida A. Tocco. They married on July 27, 1963 at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Detroit. Together, they shared a wonderful 54 years. They eventually settled in Fraser, building their home in 1964. Warren worked for many years after trade school as a millwright, retiring in 1992 from Stillson Hydraulics. Outside of work, Warren enjoyed gardening, maintaining a beautiful yard, fishing, ice fishing, and making many things for his children during their childhood, such as corn mazes, ice rinks, and snow mountains. He especially enjoyed cheering on his daughters at many sporting events. Warren was a proud father and grandfather, and a true family man. His memory will live on in those who loved him.
Warren is survived by his loving wife Ida; cherished daughters Janet (Patrick) Keller, Sharron (Thomas) Nevens, and Trecia (Scott) Scribner; beloved grandchildren Cody Scribner and Briana Keller. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many grand-dogs. Warren was preceded in death by his parents and sister Wilma (John) Behan.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2pm until 8pm with a Rosary service at 7pm at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Ronald Catholic Church, 17701 15 Mile Road, Clinton Twp., Michigan 48035 with Rev. William Herman officiating. Additional visitation at the church beginning at 10am until time of Mass. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly on Tuesday, August 14, 2017 at 10am.
