James Thomas Burgess, longtime resident of Fraser, died peacefully September 27, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family. He was 77 years of age.
James was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 9, 1939, son of the late James and Geneva (Rogers) Burgess. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Emma "Lou" Mowery, on July 19, 1958 in Detroit. The couple made their home in Fraser in 1975. Jim had a successful career with Chrysler Corporation for over 30 years of dedicated service; retiring in 1994. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of St. Clair Shores. Jim loved going up to his cabin where he enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed fishing and belonged to the Walleye Club. He loved bowling and looked forward to his Tuesday bowling league with his church family. Jim was an avid fan of "The Duke" John Wayne, an avid reader of Louis L'Amour novels and loved his country music. Above all he loved his family and his Lord and Savior. Jim lived life to the fullest and led by example. He taught his children how to love their family and was always there for everyone. Not only was he reliable, but, he was the most honest man who always extended compassion and a helping hand to others. He will be deeply missed and his light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
Jim is the beloved husband of Emma "Lou"; dearest father of the Karen (Thomas) Bowling, Bill (Donna) Burgess and the late James Burgess; dear father-in-law of Denise Burgess; cherished grandfather of Brent (Sarah), Stephan (Kathryn), Rachel and Emilee; and dear brother of the late Donna and Kay.
