Edward Milewski, a resident of Sterling Heights, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on December 23, 2017. He was 95 years of age.
Edward was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 13, 1922. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Being a proud veteran, he was a founding member of the Szafran-Sarnowski Post #9428 in Detroit on June 8, 1947, and was the final commander when the post was merged with the Village Stinson Post #9021 in Warren on its Fiftieth Anniversary. Edward graduated form University of Detroit with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then started a successful career for over 3 decades in the automotive industry, retiring in 1988 from General Motors.
Edward enjoyed keeping himself busy; being a very active member of his VFW post, as well as a member of the Order of the Cootie, an ancillary organization of the VFW, serving wounded service members and those effected by a service member's death. Above all, he was a sweet and loving man who was always there for others, especially his children and grandchildren. The kindness and compassion he extended to others was truly a blessing to all. He will be deeply missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Edward is the loving father of Gregory Milewski, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Lepkowski and Julianne Milewski; cherished grandfather of Joseph, Sydney and Stella; longtime friend and former spouse of S. Joyce Felice; dear brother of Theresa Gromacki, Anne McAtee and the late Helen Monkovich, and Florence Cheney.
