Obituary for Floyd Schafer
Floyd Kenneth Schafer, resident of Fraser, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on December 14, 2017. He was 79 years of age.
Floyd was born on April 24, 1938 in Warren, Michigan, son of the late Fred and Thelma (Welton) Schafer. He was united in marriage to his beautiful wife, Jacqueline Ann Lazoen, on October 28, 1961 at St. Clement Catholic Church of Center Line. The couple made their home in Warren and was blessed with two beautiful children of whom they loved and cherished. Floyd stared a career working with the U.S. Postal Service in Warren for 38 dedicated years, leaving a positive and longing impression with his fellow coworkers. He loved to go fishing and looked forward to his annual cruises with family and the guys hockey weekend in Februaries. Floyd enjoyed his Saturday morning breakfast with friends and especially enjoyed each and every moment shared in his grandsons company. He had a great sense of humor and was never judgemental. He had a heart of gold and was always there for his family. Floyd will always be known for his patience, guidance and caring ways; and the love and compassion he extended to others was a blessing. He will be deeply missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever,
Floyd is the loving husband of the late Jacqueline; cherished father of Kimberly (Michael) McCabe and the late Steve Schafer; dearest grandfather of Michael (Stephanie) and Kevin (Maggie Schmitz) McCabe; loving brother of the late Don, Fred, Betty, John, Jerry, Jim and Dwayne; dear step-brother of Marvel (Mark) Marcie and Carol Jackson; beloved cousin of Patti (the late Jerry) Ries and nephew of Irene (the late John) Lindert.
Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Sunday 10am - 2pm. A funeral will be at 1:30 pm. Private interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Share memories at www.faulmannwalsh.com
