Richard Allen Daly of Harrison Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his home on August 8th, 2018. He was 71 years old.
Born in Detroit to parents Stanford and Doris (Seitz) Daly on January 11, 1947, Richard served proudly in the Army for 2 years before marrying Susan Krucker on September 15, 1973 in Roseville. The couple first took residence in Fraser, then lived in Harrison Township for the next 44 years, where they raised their children and were surrounded by a large extended family.
In 2002, Richard retired as production manager of Samuel Whittar Steel Company in Detroit after 34 years, and soon after took a new position that became his favorite: caring for his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and football, quality time with family, and summer vacations at the family cottage on Lake Milakokia in the Upper Peninsula. Richard will be remembered as a kind, generous, and humble man; a devoted father, husband, and grandfather; a loyal friend and brother; and a man of deep and abiding Christian faith. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor to know him.
Richard is survived by wife Susan (Krucker) Daly, daughter Maureen (Nicholas) Barone, son Matthew (Colleen Rice) Daly, grandchildren Grace, Owen, Jillian, Gianna, Vivian, Buster, and Evie, brother Dennis (Gail) Daly, and sister Judy Daly. He was preceded in death by his father Stanford, mother Doris, and daughter Katherine (Brandon) Malik.
A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18th at Faulmann Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home in Fraser, Michigan, with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard’s name to the Detroit Rescue Mission.
