It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon James Kearney announce his passing on August 22, 2018 in his home, he was 87 years of age.
Gordon was born on December 17, 1930 in Pontiac, Michigan, son of the late James and Helen (Slating) Kearney. He served our country honorably as a Petty Officer First Class in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Gordon was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Zezzo on August 29, 1953. The couple was blessed with five beautiful children of whom he loved and cherished. Gordon was a graduate of Michigan State University receiving his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He built a career in financing and was a CPA for Price Waterhouse, Letts Industries, Peschke Packing Company and retired from Port Huron School District. Gordon was a great outdoorsman who loved to hunt. Above all, Gordon loved his family and enjoyed each moment shared in their company. He will be greatly missed, and his light will always continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Gordon is the beloved husband of the late Barbara, cherished father of Debra, Tamra (Frank) Marinello, Sean, Brett (Amy) and the late Mark (Marci) Kearney, adored grandfather of 10 grandchildren (Krista, Nick, Amanda, Allison, Kyle, Matthew, Jake, Kristy, Aislin and James) and 3 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, James and Helen and by his stepfather, Arthur Schoenberg.
