Obituary

Virginia L. Mellar (nee Soltman), a longtime resident of Fraser, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2021. She was 91 years old.

Virginia was born on April 1, 1929 in Fraser to Leonard and Ella (nee Schwark) Soltman. After graduating high school, she met and later married the love of her life Robert W. Mellar; the couple was united in marriage on December 6, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church in Fraser. The couple was blessed with three children that they loved and cherished; William, Michael, and Sharon. She was a dedicated mother and provided a loving home with Christian values. Virginia worked for many years at local groceries stores in Fraser as a cashier. Outside of her work. Virginia enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. Above all, Virginia cherished her time spent with her family and will always be remembered for her great sense of humor. Virginia will be deeply missed and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Virginia is survived by her loving children William (Nanci) Mellar and Michael Mellar; cherished grandchildren Jennifer and Robert ( Sandy) Mellar; dear great-grandson Brandon and Savannah; and sister Joyce Gozdor. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Sharon; siblings, Robert (Madelyn) and Jerry (Sandy) Soltman; and brother-in-law Stanley Gozdor.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10am until the time of funeral at 11am at St. John Lutheran Church in Fraser. Inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
