Joan Margaret Pennanen, longtime resident of Warren, died peacefully on November 21, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was 86 years of age. Joan fought a courageous battle and has won victory with her Lord and Savior.

Joan was born on February 5, 1933 in Ecorse, Michigan, a beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Hattie (Hein) McCausland. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Elmer Pennanen, on August 2, 1951 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Warren. The couple made their home in Warren and their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters of whom she loved and cherished. Joan dedicated her life to her family and was the epitome of a great mother and devoted wife. Her family always came first and she made sure her children were raised with Christian values in a loving home. Joan had a kindred spirit and a heart of gold. She loved her grandchildren; and watched over them for many years and treasured every moment shared in their company. Joan was an avid reader who loved to crochet.cook for her family and always had a full cookie jar. She will be greatly missed and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Joan is the devoted wife of the late Elmer; dearest mother of Kristin (Eric) Bachmann and Kathrin Pennanen; cherished grandmother of Jeremiah (Stephenie) and Aaron ( Anne Marie Spezia); great grandmother of Odin and Maximus; loving sister of Thomas (Beverly) McCausland and Judith Hoskyns.

Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Monday from 2pm til 8pm and Tuesday from 10am till time of funeral services at 11am. A life celebration will be held at Infinity Hall adjacent to the funeral home following the services. Interment will be with her beloved husband in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.

Dearest cousin Joan! Many happy memories and the oldest daughter of the youngest child (Hattie) of Fredric and Wilhelmina Hein. The end of an era. I now only have 2 remaining cousins, while our grandparents had 19 children, so little remain. Joan was a dear niece to my Mother and also her God-child. She always kept in touch with my Mom when she was on this earth and I really appreciated her caring ways. We had lots of good laughs and I am so happy that she has received the Crown of Life and is with all those other relatives having a great time in Heaven. See you on the other side, Joan. Cousin Bob
