Joan was born on February 5, 1933 in Ecorse, Michigan, a beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Hattie (Hein) McCausland. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Elmer Pennanen, on August 2, 1951 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Warren. The couple made their home in Warren and their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters of whom she loved and cherished. Joan dedicated her life to her family and was the epitome of a great mother and devoted wife. Her family always came first and she made sure her children were raised with Christian values in a loving home. Joan had a kindred spirit and a heart of gold. She loved her grandchildren; and watched over them for many years and treasured every moment shared in their company. Joan was an avid reader who loved to crochet.cook for her family and always had a full cookie jar. She will be greatly missed and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Joan is the devoted wife of the late Elmer; dearest mother of Kristin (Eric) Bachmann and Kathrin Pennanen; cherished grandmother of Jeremiah (Stephenie) and Aaron ( Anne Marie Spezia); great grandmother of Odin and Maximus; loving sister of Thomas (Beverly) McCausland and Judith Hoskyns.
