Sylvia was born on April 26, 1936 in Detroit to Michael and Theresa (nee Pacholek) Servitto. After completing high school, Sylvia married the love of her life, Elwood "Reds" Richardson on February 15, 1958 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores. The couple made their first home in St. Clair Shores and were blessed with two children, Sandra and Michael. Sylvia worked for over thirty years as the supervising secretary of Periodical Publications and retired in 1983. Outside of her work, Sylvia was a dedicated member of the VFW Post #6691 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as President of the District and State. She also served as President of the National Council of Administration and was an active member at St. Joan of Arc and St. Isidore. Sylvia was a woman of faith and found comfort in her Catholic faith during times of difficulty throughout her life. Above everything, Sylvia enjoyed every moment of being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She always enjoyed time spent with family. She had a special devotion to Blessed Solanus Casey and always had portraits at statues of him. Her smile and kindness will truly be missed by all who knew her, but memories of her will continue on in all who loved her.
Sylvia is the beloved wife of Elwood “Reds”; dearest mother of Sandra (Bruce) Berriman & Michael (Judy) Richardson; loving grandmother of Michael (Kelli Rose) Arcori, Joseph Arcori, Ashley Richardson-Liles, Kyle (Emily) Richardson, & Bryce Berriman; great-grandmother of Michael, Carter, Alexander, Madison, Ava Grace, & Ella Rose. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Private services were held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home of Fraser. Thank you to the staff of Anthology of Troy and the angels of Hospice of Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fr. Solanus Casey Center, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Hospice of Michigan & the Alzheimer’s Association.
