Michael Joseph Torrento, longtime resident of St. Clair Shores, died peacefully February 18, 2021. He was 99 years of age.
Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 18, 1921, son of the late Camillo and Catherine Torrento. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. Michael was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Afton, on February 24, 1944 in Nevada. The couple resided in Detroit until making their home in St. Clair Shores in 1953; and they were blessed with four wonderful children of whom he loved and cherished. Michael was a "Jack of All Trades." He worked for many companies, in many different occupations and loved them all. After his retirement, he and Afton enjoyed spending their winters in sunny Lake Suzy, Florida. He was quite the connoisseur of fine food. An excellent cook, he specialized in Italian cuisine and enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Michael really enjoyed investing and watching the stock market. He also enjoyed his occasional trips to the casino with all his pennies in hand. Michael never met a stranger and was known for his charming and funny ways! He will be greatly missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Michael is the loving husband of the late Afton; dearest father of Toby (Becky) Torrento, Terry (Joe) Ciacchella, Trudy Torrento and Timothy Torrento; cherished grandfather of Daniel (Norie), Pam, Paul (Karen), Steven, Joel, Dean (Jennie), Phillip (Michelle) and Tess; and beloved great grandfather of 12 beautiful great grandchildren.
