Obituary

Wallace Nathan Gray, known to all as Nate, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on March 15, 2019. He was 86 years of age.

Nate was born on September 24, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Dalton and Ruby (Graviette) Gray. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Soon after, Nate was united in marriage to his loving wife, Sharron G. Yochim, on January 10, 1959 at St. Veronica Catholic Church of Eastpointe. Their union was blessed with two beautiful daughters of whom he loved and cherished. Nate had a wonderful and successful career at Lanzen Fabricating for 40 dedicated years; retiring at the age of 84. He loved golfing in the warm summer months and bowling during the winter. He was an avid reader who enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Nate had a beautiful singing voice and was always in the church choir.. Above all, he was a gentleman who was humble and kind. He always had a hand to give and a shoulder to lean on. Nate will be deeply missed and his light will conitnue to glow in our hearts forever.

Nate is the devoted and loving husband of 60 years to Sharron; dearest father of
Candace (Robert) Maynard and Charise (Rich) Baker; cherished grandfather of Samantha, Joshua, Sarah, Jacob and Scott; dear brother of Denise Caron and the late Ronnie, Gary and Roger; and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Monday 10:30 am until the closing prayers at 11:30am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul of Tarsus on Monday at 12Noon. The placement of ashes will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 1pm on Wednesday.

Although I have known Nate for over 50 years, I will cherish our conversation at a recent friends' Christmas dinner. One of the many things we talked about was some of his health problems about which he was relaxed and realistic. I came away from that time with Nate knowing that he was a man "happy in his own skin." I am grateful to Sharron for once again arranging that gathering of friends that made that conversation possible. Nate will be missed by those friends and many, many others and of course by his loving family. Judy Smith

Nate and I worked together at Lanzen for 40 years together. Nate would never spell my name with an "e" I was Ann with a "dit" (as he would call it) Ann. A "dit" was morse code for "e" (from his days in the Navy) and I always called him "Wally". I love you Wally.

Everyone knows how much our dad loved bowling, however when we were young I am sure he wanted to quit. He was so patient trying to teach me how to bowl the proper way, and I would get so frustrated and angry because I couldn't do it as well as him. He would always say " act like your going to shake hands with the pins".

Yep I remember that Candy. Also trying to teach us to throw a baseball and catch and swim. He was so patient and would smile and had that quiet presence.
