Matthew was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 16, 1963, son of the late William and Peggy (Vannatter) Steffen. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Michelle Lee Meisegeier, on September 30, 1989 at Hope Lutheran Church of Warren. Their union was blessed with five wonderful children of whom he loved and cherished. Matt was the proud co-owner and operator of J & M Signature Concrete and Construction Inc. for 13 successful years. He was quite amazing, for his talents were unlimited. He loved cooking and baking, which made him a excellent Chef. Matt loved preaching the Bible, which led him to be a Deacon for many years. He led life with love and purpose. Matt always thought of others before himself. After Katrina devastated the south, Matt, along with family, relocated to help and preach the Word of our Lord and Savior. To know Matt was to love him. He would light up a room with his laughter and humor; and would always leave a lasting impression. He had great knowledge and would enjoy to share his wisdom when asked. Matt will always be known for his love of God and his family. His compassion and friendship he extended was a blessing to all. He will be deeply missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Matt is the devoted husband of Michelle; dearest father of Marcie (Joshua) Schumaker, Makenzie (Mitchell) Kokko, Mitchell (Rebecca) Steffen, Mariah (Jack Merlo) Steffen and the late Marcus Steffen; cherished grandfather of Liam, Logan and Ivyana; loving brother of Jill (Ed) Klunk, Bonny Babiak, Christopher (Andrea) Steffen and the late Timothy Steffen; and dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hope Lutheran Church on Friday from 3pm - 8pm and Saturday 10am until the time of funeral at 11am. In lieu of flowers, Matthew request memorials to be given to his family to help with funeral cost. Share memories at www.faulmannwalsh.com
