Rosina Cornacchia (Collica), a longtime resident of Warren, passed away peacefully after a very long illness from dementia on June 26, 2019.

Rose was born on April 4, 1926 in San Vittore, Italy, to Achille and Pasquelina (nee Decina) Marone. She traveled here by steamship when she was 3 years old with her 6 year old sister, Emilia and her mother, landing at Ellis Island. Her father began a job at Ford Motor Company and they moved to the lower East Side of Detroit.

She met and married her beloved husband Anthony Joseph Collica in June of 1946 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Detroit. The couple was blessed with three loving children, Martin, Joanna, and Steven. Anthony passed away suddenly on July 9, 1968. Rose later met and married her loving husband Bill Cornacchia on September 19, 1969 in Warren.

Rose worked for many years as a switchboard operator at Michigan Bell, National Bank of Detroit, and St. John Hospital retiring in her mid 70s. Outside of the work she enjoyed, Rose loved to cook, bake, garden, play board games and cards with her family, and enjoyed annual trips to their summer cottage in Port Huron, Michigan. Rose was a kind and loving woman who will be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife, and mother.

Rose is survived by her loving children Martin, Joanna, and Steven; beloved granddaughters Brianna and Cierra, and sister Marie Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands Anthony and William, and her sister Emilia, and her brother Tony.

She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service and inurnment will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10:30am in the St. Luke Chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River Road, Clinton Twp., MI 48038. A memorial luncheon will follow at Infinity Hall, 16650 E. Fourteen Mile Road, Fraser, MI 48026.

Mama, this wall isn’t big enough to print all the glorious memories I have of you. You were my biggest supporter. I needed that from you because it would prove to me that you were proud of what I had done. You went through so many trials and tribulations with so much pride and strength. I was so very proud of you. Mom, I always said that if I could be 1/10 of the women you were, it would mean so much and it would be the greatest accomplishment in my life. You had the greatest sense of humor! You always loved being at our many parties that Marty put together. Everyone wanted you to be their mom because you were the best! We’ll always remember your apple and cherry jacks pastries, and especially your four layer chocolate cake with the Dream Whip frosting!! We always looked forward to our birthday cakes. I miss you, mom. I feel so empty, but I’m beginning to fill that emptiness with the wonderful memories you left behind. There are so many. Be happy, mama. You’re with your friends and family probably playing cards and having a blast. We’ll all be together again and oh what a beautiful reunion and life we’ll have, including all our dogs!! Thank you for being the most beautiful, generous, thoughtful mom that Marty, Steve and I could hope for. Until we all meet again, I’m sending you my love and missing you so very much. I love you, mama. God bless you. 🙏 Your Daughter, Joanna❤️😘
