Charlie was born on June 2, 1945 in Eckman, West Virginia, one of six children of the late John and Kelsia (New) Christian. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Charlie met the love of his life, Linda Sue Belcher, and they were united in marriage on October 25, 1966. The couple moved to Michigan and built their home in Roseville in 1968. Charlie had an eye for detail and was quite the perfectionist who enjoyed carpentry work; which led him to his career as a finish carpenter. He retired from Huron Acoustic Company after over 20 years of dedicated service and hard work. Charlie was a dynamic man who took so many foster children under his care along with his wife for so many years. He was also a legacy to so many children for his efforts on the Smoky Mountain Children's Home. He was very diligent on raising money for the children every year and he was awarded by the organization for his continuity. Charlie lived life with love and purpose and it was through his faith in our Lord that got him through all life's ups and downs. Though we grieve his passing, we know that Charlie has left us for a better life free from all pain and care. We are all eternally thankful for our Charlie who taught us to be more loving and genuine people by the life he led. His light will continue to shine in our hearts forever. Try and remember what Charlie would always say, "Stay the course" and the Lord will always provide.
Charlie is the devoted and loving husband of 53 years to Linda; dearest father of Kathy Voorhis, Charles (Kelly) Jr., Natalie, Felicia, and the late Robin and Nathan Christian; cherished grandfather of Hope, Faith, Crystal, and Joshua; and beloved great grandfather of Penelope, Arianna, Angela and Aiden. He is also survived by many foster children, nieces, nephews and friends.
