Larry Lee Carper, longtime resident of Texas, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on September 11, 2019. He was 73 years of age.

Larry was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on May 25, 1946, son of the late Glen and Florence (Sweeter) Carper. He loved our Country and set out on the road as a real "Rambling Man." Larry was an over the road truck driver who enjoyed every state for everything they had offered, little or big. His adventures always continued; he would take his big rig through every capital of each state, even down Pennsylvania Avenue. The only state he was never able to visit was Alaska; and his disclaimer on that, was there is no highway through the capital! Towards the end of his career, he was sought after for his expertise of the highway. Larry would fly all over the country with a team of investigators to review accidents. He really enjoyed this experience. Larry always gave back to his community. Being a tough ol' cowboy, living in Texas for over 30 years, he volunteered for the Search and Rescue Team whenever needed. He respected mankind and always had a hand for anyone in need. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed looking and marveling at the wonders God has created.

Larry never took anything for granted and understood the true value of friendship and love. He was a humble, kind man who always saw the good in people. Larry was the greatest story teller. He was witty, of course, and his comebacks were always hilarious. He lived life with purpose and love. Although we grieve Larry's passing, we are truly grateful for our rambling man who taught us to be more giving , loving and adventurous people. His light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Larry is the beloved husband of the late Delia; dearest father of Ronie (Glen) Williams, Lisa Carper, Michael (Lisa) Carper and Michele (Thomas) Walny; dear step-daughter of Cora Sharrock; cherished grandfather of Randall Robbins, Shandi Robbins, Brettin Forstner, Tyler Carper, Jacob Carper, Kaleb Carper, Sean Carper, Zachary Kleine, Matthew Reed, Kelly Lane, Levina Hamilton; loving great grandfather of seven beautiful great grandchildren; dearest brother of Janette Carper and the late Robert Carper, Gene Carper, Delores Carper, Phyllis Earl and Franklin Carper; and dearest uncle to many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be addressed to the Hospice House of Shiawassee County, 2005 E. Copas Rd., Owosso, MI 48867 or the Hospital Hospitality House of Southwest Michigan, 828 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
