Barbara was born on July 4, 1935 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to Charles and Julianna (nee Wiess) Elick. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Leo D. Zelinski on June 1, 1957 at Marymount Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre. The couple made their first home in St. Clair Shores before settling in Roseville to raise their family. Barbara was blessed with remarkable creative skills and used these skills as a seamstress throughout her life. While she made many garments that she sold throughout the years, she always volunteered her skills to those in need, especially survivors of breast cancer. She also volunteered her time as a member of the Mother's Club and as a Den Mother when her children were younger. Barbara also loved to garden, make her famous pies and wine, canning, practicing calligraphy, and going to garage sales in the summer. Above everything else, Barbara cherished time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren. Many wonderful memories were made throughout the years during annual trips back home to Pennsylvania and to their cottage on Lake Pleasant in Attica, Michigan. Her friendliness and kindness will truly be missed by all who knew her, but memories of her will continue on in all who loved her.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Leo; cherished children Lawrence (Sue Tschirhart) Zelinski, Audrey (James) Denault, Judith Depoorter, and Mary Ann (Daniel) Therrien; beloved grandchildren Scott (Marianne) Denault, Allen (Jolene) Denault, Kevin Denault, Amanda Therrien, Erica Therrien, Danielle ( Christopher Bratta) Therrien, John (Alicia Richards) Therrien, Aaron (Sarah Binienda) Depoorter, and Julia Tschirhart; great-grandchildren Lola, Damien, Alayna, Henry, Genevieve, and Lola Rey; siblings Carl (Maureen) Elick, Diane (Donald) Lewandowski, and Geraldine (John) Grigas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brother Raymond (the Late Rosemary) Elick.
