Eugenia Mary Henning (nee Zaniewski), a longtime resident of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2020. She was 93 years old.

Eugenia was born on July 12, 1926 in Detroit to Julius and Mary (nee Markel) Zaniewski. She married her beloved husband, Robert Henry Henning on July 15, 1962 in Long Island, New York. The couple made their first home in East Detroit before settling in St. Clair Shores. Eugenia was very involved with the St. Clair Shores Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary , REAC, St. Clair Shores Senior Cruisers, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She constantly gave her time to the FOE and DAV throughout the years and volunteered in many positions. She served as the FOE Auxiliary President and historian for many years. Eugenia also worked for many years to coordinate "Christmas for Kids" for the FOE, benefiting less fortunate children in the area. Eugenia was an outgoing and friendly person who cherished her family above everything. She loved going out to eat with them and especially enjoyed Christmas with her family. Her smile and kindness will truly be missed by all who knew her, but memories of her will continue on in all who loved her.
Eugenia is the beloved wife of the late Robert; cherished mother of Virginia (Ronald) Brzezinski, Patti Henning, Barbara Henning, and Robert (Kathy) Henning; loving grandmother of Roxanne Brzezinski, Kelly Valensky, Jeff Valensky, Linnee (Greg) Snyder and Michah (Rie) Saperstein; great-grandmother of Jordan, Charlie, Leana, Neala, Luke and Logan; sister of Theresa Wells and the late Chester Zaniewski. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 from 2-8pm at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the funeral home at 11am with additional visitation beginning at 10am. Private interment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East.
