Carol was born on July 15, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Marvin R. and Martha (nee Roth) Semrau. She met and married the love of her life, Thomas Edward Eikhoff on October 28, 1950 at Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit. The couple was blessed with a son and a daughter, whom they always loved and cherished. Carol graduated in 1950 from the nursing school at Deaconess Hospital. She went on to serve as a registered nurse at Saratoga Hospital and later as a private duty nurse. Outside of her work, Carol loved spending time with family and friends, hosting many gatherings in her home throughout the years. Besides her love of family and friends, Carol also loved her Lord and Savior, serving in His church for many years, wherever she was needed. Above everything, Carol loved her entire family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She could be found supporting her grandchildren at any type of event they were participating in. No matter what was going on in her life, she always wanted to know how everyone else was doing. She was a truly courageous woman who would let nothing stop her, even into the final days of her life. Her smile and kindness will truly be missed by all who knew her, but memories of her will continue on in all who loved her.
Carol is survived by her loving children Susan (Eric) Blomberg and Mark (Pamela) Eikhoff; beloved grandchildren Nathan (Jill) Eikhoff, Noah Eikhoff, and Elliott (Marie Ann) Nelson; cherished great-grandchildren Ethan, Alexander, Emily, Finnley, and Gwendolyn; dear sister Cynthia Malcom; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, her parents, sister Faith Stanton and brother Michael Semrau.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11am at Bethel Baptist Church of St. Clair Shores with instate beginning at 10am. A private internment will be held at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. Arrangements entrusted to Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home of Fraser.
