Marjie L. Eckhout, longtime resident of Roseville, died peacefully on March 14, 2020. She was 94 years of age.

Marjie was born in Flint, Michigan on June 25, 1925, daughter of the late Glenn and Mary Lelia (Allen) Smith. Marjie was a former manager for Winkleman's for many dedicated years. She dedicated her life to her family and was the epitome of a great mother and grandmother. Marjie was awarded from the City of Roseville, "Mother of the Year". She had a "Green Thumb" and her gardens were absolutely beautiful; and she was awarded the Beautification Award from the city countless times. She was very active with the Daughters of the American Revolution, being their Chaplin for years. Marjie was also a member of the Bruce Post Woman's Auxiliary for many years. She was also an active member of First United Methodist Church of Mt. Clemens. Marjie was an avid reader who loved playing cards; and enjoyed crafting and crocheting. She was creative with her time and published a book of Poems written by her mother. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Marjie was a Classy lady who would be consider a "National Treasure". She will always be known for her keen wit. Her life was well lived and she was loved. She will be deeply missed by all.

Marjie is the loving wife of the late Harold; dearest mother of Mary Hyslop, Rowland (Linda) Gaines, Deborah (Craig) MacLauren, Thomas Gaines,Timothy (Patricia) Gaines and the late Nancy (Robert) Sangret; cherished grandmother of Brian (Cathy), Jeffrey (Sarah), Jeannette (Kyle), Cheri, Cindi (David), Paul (Jinyun), Brandi, Kimberly (Mike) Christopher, Jamie, Torrey, Jonathon (Amber), Elizabeth and Jeremy; dear great grandmother of 14 great grandchildren; beloved sister of the late Barbara; and dearest aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
