William Robert Allport, known to all as Bob, resident of Warren, died peacefully June 29, 2020. He was 90 years of age.

Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 26, 1930, son of the late Harold and Sarah (Woolrich) Allport. After High School graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably during the Korean War. Bob was blessed with Nine wonderful children of whom he loved and cherished. He retired from At&t, formerly Michigan Bell, after many dedicated years. Bob was a brilliant man who was a genius on the Cello and became a professional Cellist for the Mesa, Warren and Mt. Clemens Symphony Orchestra; and was a proud 60 year member of the Musicians Union. When ii came to electronics, Bob could fix about anything. Bob was a gentle, soft spoken and a very generous man. He understood the value of friendship and loved the Lord. He was a true believer of Olvatine, along with Cheerios every morning. Bob also like his sweets. He will always be known for his sense of humor; and always, always had a joke to tell. Bob will be deeply missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Bob is the loving father of John, David (Denise), Ken, Chris, Carol (the late Randy) Deel, Mark, Dennis (Amy Shore), Thomas Allport and the late Gerilyn Marie; cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and dear brother of the late Richard and Sarah Lolita.

A memorial service along with interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery with full military honors will be held at a later date. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. Share memories at

Bob lived next door to my family in Fraser many years ago. He was the greatest neighbor. Always willing to lend a helping hand as long as he could share his jokes! The summer of 88 when it was unbearable hot I bought a kiddie pool even though I was well into my 20s. A few evenings I came home from work only to find Bob in the pool listening to symphony music on my “boom box.”
Each of my visits to my grandmother’s house in Az, Bob always found the time to come say hello.
My childhood was truly blessed with Bob as my neighbor. I hope he and Mr. Garrison found each other in heaven...

Bob was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and we all loved him. He was quite the character and loved to tell a joke. He also loved to make you laugh. He showed us pictures when he was appearing with the big stars and he was so proud and we were proud of him. He was a sweetheart, always one of the first in church and he had his reserved seat, sitting in the same spot every Sunday, just across the aisle of me and my sister. Myself and the rest of Mt. Calvary will miss him and his ready smile. God Bless his family and know that Bob is the arms of Jesus, where he belongs. RIP Bob.

Remember Bob very well in the 1980's. He was married to my step-mother Liz Longo-Seals. I was even the Maid-of-Honor for them. Bob and I played in the Macomb County Community Orchestra with Tom Cook. Glad to know Bob and will raise a glass of wine in his honor.
