Olga Rosa Kuzniak, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family: husband Richard, and daughters Isabella, Claudia, and Nina. Olga's legacy, which is one of love and devotion to her family, started with her and Richard's immigration to the USA from Austria in 1962.

Olga's joy was cooking and baking for her family, friends, and neighbors. She was known for sharing her delicious Austrian baked goods with all who loved her, and the appearance of one of her famous blueberry or apricot sheet cakes on the kitchen counter or the neighbor's porch will be sorely missed.

Olga shared her love of European culture with her children, grandchildren, friends, and church family. Her home was rich in European tradition and all who visited felt accepted, loved, and transported due to her attention to the details of a fine place setting, European food, and lively conversation. She was a delightful hostess who made family and guests feel cherished.

Bethany Lutheran Church was an anchor in Olga's life and where she enjoyed lifelong friendships, participated in Bible study, and was involved in community service work. No one can forget her famous sloppy joes at the rummage sales that benefited needy families. She was honored to receive Woman of the Year for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for her service to Bethany Lutheran Church.

The final role of Olga's life was that of a grandmother. Her three grandchildren -- Nina, Gabrielle, and Kevin -- brought her much joy. As each grandchild was born, she made certain to be in Las Vegas (where they lived) to provide assistance and plenty of love to her grandbabies. As soon as they were able, they were standing on a step stool and cooking with her, making homemade pierogies and other traditional Eastern European dishes.

Olga widened the world of those she knew with what she shared. She filled the hearts of those she loved with what she offered. She brightened our lives with her warm embrace, her acts of love, and her witty commentary. The world is a little less entertaining without her in it.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the American Kidney Fund

Nina, I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family. Though I recall meeting Olga only once, I remember her friendly, happy smile when she welcomed me into her home. I also remember that she offered me some cake and that Kenny may have been in the trunk of Mark's car. Your mom lives on in your memories and the stories you share about her. She is a big part of who you are and she loved you and I know you'll always love her. Rest In Peace Mrs. Kuzniak.

To my dear friend Claudia, my heart is with you and your family in prayer during this difficult time. Olga was a woman of virtue. She taught me the value of family, held my hand while I was going through a divorce and said Everything will be alright, taught me how to crochet and showed me that pickled beets with horseradish are eggs’ best friend ( I still make it to this day). I love you and please give your father my condolences and love. Stay strong and know that our Lord Jesus embraced her home and said “Well done good and faithful servant”.
All my love,
Eve 🌹

I first met Olga in 1983 or 84 when I went to Fraser High with her daughter. From the very first time I met her I loved her and could immediately tell what a kind, loving, and pure soul she was. She always had the warmest smile and most wonderful laugh and treated everyone as family. She was the epitome of everything a mother should be and she was just pure love and warmth and class. I will miss you, Mrs. Kuzniak. Everyone who was lucky enough to know you will. Rest in peace, beautiful lady. xo Mark
