Margery Johnston was the matriarch and glue of the family; and truly salt of the earth. Together with her late husband, Louis, they were members of the Greatest Generation who survived the depression, WWII and then thrived through hard work and devotion to God, family and community, raising four boys in Fraser.
Margery made taking care of others her priority, beginning with family but certainly not ending there. "Love thy neighbor" was her way of life. Her love and generosity reverberated through her family, church, neighborhood and all that she touched. She was one of the original "Crafty ladies" at church, turning her renowned sewing and crafting skills into amazing projects that raised countless funds for the less fortunate.
Gamma Marge had a smile and encouraging word for every person she met. She was a God-fearing woman who didn't talk religion, but LIVED it. She had cross words for no one. She was enormously proud of her growing family of "grands," "great-grands," and "great-greats."
She taught us how to bake amazing Christmas cookies-the best bird's nest. And so much more. In her own quiet, caring way, she taught us how to love and cherish each other. In so doing, she shared with us the recipe for a truly happy and successful life. Margery Johnston will live forever in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to be touched by her love.
Margery is the loving wife of Louie; dearest mother of Sandy (Darlene), Louie (Suzanne), David and Mickey; cherished grandmother of Teri, Keith, Angela, Tricia, Sara, Jillian and the late Eric and Dimitra (Jerry); dear great grandmother of David, Danielle, Dalton, Kelly, Virginia, Joshua, Jacob, Olivia, Nathan, Mateo, Emily, Cassidy, and Caylin; great great grandmother of Adalyn, Logan, Lyle and one on the way; dearest sister of John (Lois) Kelley; dear sister-in-law of Norma Kelley; aunt of many nieces and nephews; and three of her favorite people, Hope, Sandra and the late Sherry; and by her extended family, the Waeiss and Newland families.
