Obituary

Richard Horn, a longtime resident of Roseville, was received into the open arms of his parents and brother and sisters in heaven on Monday evening under the care of hospice in Pine Ridge Senior Living of Clinton Twp. He was 94 years of age.

Richard was born, in Detroit on February 13, 1926, one of 13 children of the late Anton and Mary (Kunst) Horn. He lived in Detroit, moving to Roseville for the past 50 plus years. Richard was employed as a mill right for many years and a member of the Carpenters Union, retiring early because of disability. He was an avid reader, an excellent one hand golfer and enjoyed card playing with his many restaurant friends. He enjoyed restaurant eateries and loved the fellowship of the wait staff at many locations. Most of all, he enjoyed his family and always put them first. He was a very generous and caring person who enjoyed a simple life. Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is survived by his many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his 11 brothers, two, of which, were infants, and 2 sisters.

Visitation will be held at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Friday from 3pm till closing prayers at 7pm. A graveside funeral with military honors will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit on Saturday at 12:30pm. Share memories with the family at www.faulmannwalsh.com

Lots of great memories with Dick. I suppose my fondest is his arrival year after year
at our old farmhouse. He would show up with that incredible smile, loaded down with
goodies. exotic breads, lunch meats and desserts. He would spend a week or 10days
with us. We looked forward to his arrival with great anticipation and were saddened
when he departed, as I am now. He was more than an uncle, my best friend.
Dear Slick, I`m hoping that Loved ones, fair weather, beautiful golf courses and
fruitful fishing is were you are, in the hereafter.
If so, I`ll see you soon Love Jim

Yes, I have many wonderful childhood memories of Uncle Dick coming out to the farm every hunting season. He was so thoughtful and generous and had the best smile! I can still hear him snoring like a bear. šŸ˜Š

Uncle Dick was an amazing man. He loved golf and after an injury taught himself to golf with one arm. Persistent! He ate meals out twice a day...breakfast and dinner...and never took home leftovers. When I asked him why he said they just go bad in the refrigerator and then you throw them out. That hit close to home! I asked him once how he managed to stay single all those years. He said, "Well, I'd like to be able to say it wasn't easy". I always enjoyed time spent with him. He was very generous to my Mother, his sister, and they spent a lot of time together. I was fortunate to talk with him a few times in recent months and was sad when my calls went directly to voice mail when he just wasn't up to it. I am so pleased he will have full military honors at his funeral in honor of his service in the Navy during WW II. He was the last of a very large family and the last of that generation. He will be dearly missed. I love you, Uncle Dick, and hopefully you knew that. You were a big part of my life growing up and even later in life. Barbara Lilly, Niece
