Duane Richard Whiteaker, resident of Ira, died peacefully December 3, 2020. He was 79 years of age.
Duane was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 29, 1941, son of the late Edward and Freda (Freddrickson) Whiteaker. He was raised in Fraser, Michigan and was a 1959 Fraser Graduate. He served our country honorably in the U.S. Airforce from 1961 - 1965. Duane was blessed with two beautiful daughters of whom he loved and cherished. He was a Architect for over 30 years serving the tri-county area. Duane was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Mt. Clemens and of Marysville. He was an avid and excellent bowler. Duane also looked forward to the warm months to get outside and golf. Duane loved to sing and enjoyed karaoke. He was larger than life. Duane understood the value of friendship and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will always be known for his kindness and would give the shirt of his back for anyone. Duane will be deeply missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Duane is the loving father of Dawn (Michael Findley) Whiteaker and Stacey (Rodger) Rautio; former father-in-law of Jim Murray; cherished grandfather of Kayla, Nathaniel, Anthony and Noah; and brother of Rosemary (the late Bill) Hiyane and the late Milton Whiteaker.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 12pm with a memorial gathering beginning at 11am at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026.
