John Michael Szydlowski, a longtime Macomb County resident, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2020 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was 59 years old.
Michael was born on September 10, 1961 in Detroit to Victor and Sandra (nee Lukanchoff) Szydlowski. Michael grew up in Fraser and attended Our Lady Queen of All Saints in Fraser. From a young age, Michael knew had wanted to always make other's smile by creating beautiful flower arrangements. He first started in his grandfather's flower shop in Detroit, before later working for Viviano Flower Shop and later owning his own shop, The Flower Box in Roseville. Michael was an extremely talented florist and created thousand of pieces in his career that brought joy to many people. Although Michael was reserved, he was a kind and caring person who deeply cared about his family and friends. His creativity and kindness will be missed by many.
Michael is survived by his beloved mother Sandra; cherished brother Christopher (Cheryl) Fox; dear niece Sophia Fox; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and sister Diana Szydlowski.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 9, 2020 at 10am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, with a memorial gathering beginning at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Clinton Township.
