Byron “Barney” Francis St. Louis Jr., a longtime resident of Fraser, died peacefully on December 31, 2020. He was 85 years of age.
Byron was born on December 4, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Byron and Monica (Quellette) St. Louis Sr. He served for 9 years in the National Guard. Byron was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Jo Ann Goodison, on November 6, 1954 in East Detroit. They settled in Fraser in May 1960 and completed their family of 5 awesome children. Barney worked for the Detroit News for 46 years. Golfing was his favorite pastime. He was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed Presidential biographies. He was a hardworking, responsible and loving family man. He was a great storyteller, warm and sociable with everyone, while his family was what he treasured most. Although we grieve his passing, we are truly grateful for the example he provided of love and life. He will be deeply missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Byron is the devoted husband of 66 years to Jo Ann; dearest father of Laura (Joseph) Kelly, James (Emily) St. Louis, Barbara Rostkowski, Richard (Lori) St. Louis, and the late Linda Renaud; cherished grandfather of 14
grandchildren as well as 2 great-grandchildren.
A private service was held. A celebration of Byron’s life will be arranged for a later date.
