Ben David Kalb passed away on December 20, 2020. He was 72 years young.
Ben was born April 29, 1948 in Frankfort, Michigan. He was the youngest of three children, born to the late Carl and Frances (Vandervort) Kalb and was preceded in death by his endeared sister and brother, Marcia Zang and Russel “Bud” Kalb.
Ben is survived by his loving wife, Dianna, and is the adored father and father-in-law of Trena and Steve Rohrbeck, Rebecca and Damian Hayden and Laura Kalb. His grandsons, who affectionately called him “Buckaroo” are Gage, Lance, and Reed Rohrbeck and Connor, Quinn, Cole, and Max Hayden. They will treasure his memory. Surviving nieces Niki Hewitt, Pam Odziana, Patti Eaddy and Angie Kalb-Rhode and nephews Mike and Thom Saffron will remember him as their beloved “Uncle Benny.” Also surviving Ben are his sister-in-law Lauri Kalb and brothers-in-law Craig Thomas and Bryan Prine.
Everyone that knew Ben, knows of his love for God and country. He never wavered in his faith in God or his constitutional beliefs. He was always a steward for the Lord and never shied away from a good political debate.
As his life took many twists and turns, Ben often said that “God has a funny sense of humor.” He never took life too seriously or for granted and wisely assured his daughters that “This too shall pass.” He was loved and admired by his family and a dear and loyal friend to so many that he met throughout the years. Ben will be deeply missed, but there is comfort in the last words he spoke to his daughter, “I love you and I had a great life.”
A celebration of Ben’s life will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan. Visitation will be from 2 pm until 4 pm. The service will be held at 4 pm.
