Obituary

Kenneth Charles Granthen Jr., longtime resident of Clinton Twp., died April 22, 2021. He fought a courageous battle with Covid and is now at peace with his Lord and Savior. He was 67 years of age.

Ken was born on March 15, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, son of Kenneth Charles and MaryAnn (Pellow) Granthen Sr. He was united in marriage to Donna Jeanne Somerville, on November 6, 1982. The couple made their home in Clinton Township. Ken worked for Sterling Inn as a HVAC and pool specialist for many years. Family was extremely important to Ken and he truly treasured every moment with them. And for his boat, "The Botany Bay", he absolutely loved and enjoyed being out on the water, especially with his childhood best friend Danny Krawczyk. Ken was a past member and crew member of the Lake St. Clair Off Shore Racing Association. He was a "Jack of All Trades" who would be there for anyone and fix about anything. Ken understood the value of friendship and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Ken is the loving husband of Donna; dearest father of Michea Jacobson; father-in-law and best friend of Robert Jacobson; beloved son of Kenneth and MaryAnn; cherished Papa of Aja; and dear brother of Brandi (Thomas) Collins.

Private services are being held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be addressed to the Autism Alliance of Michigan, 30100 TELEGRAPH RD STE 250, BINGHAM FARMS, MI 48025-4515. Share memories with family at Faulmannwalsh.com

It’s difficult to know what to say. I love and adore by big brother. He was a brilliant, caring, funny pain in the butt. We shared a wonderful childhood with loving parents. I will miss him with every cell of my body.

Larry Goetzinger says he remembers when Kenny would bring his dog over to visit at mom and dads. He remembers the dogs always had a kerchief on. We remember too many good times to list, but snowmobile weekends were the best. Card playing, music and fun times will always be a memory in our hearts.
