Ida was born on July 11, 1927 in Detroit to Salvatore and Domenica (nee Sarcona) Tocco. Ida met the love of her life, Warren R. Pursell and the couple was married on July 27, 1963 at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Detroit. Together, they shared a wonderful 54 years. The couple was blessed with three daughters whom they loved and cherished. They eventually settled in Fraser, building their home in 1964. Ida was a devoted mother and took pride in maintaining a warm and welcoming home. Above all else, Ida enjoyed time spent as a wife, mother, and especially a grandmother. She was also strong in her faith, which brought her great comfort in difficulties she faced throughout her life. She made sure her family was raised in a loving and faithful home. Ida was a longtime parishioner of St. Thecla Catholic Church and later St. Ronald Catholic Church. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, crafting, baking, playing cards, gardening, and playing games with friends and family. Ida was the matriarch of her family; A title she wore with the grace, elegance and humility of a person who ascends to her position not by a desire to lead, but as result of a lifetime of experience and wisdom acquired in devotion to her family. She was a truly courageous woman who would let nothing stop her, even into the final days of her life. Her smile and kindness will truly be missed by all who knew her, but memories of her will continue on in all who loved her.
Ida is survived by her cherished daughters Trecia (Scott) Scribner, Janet (Patrick) Keller, and Sharron (Thomas) Nevens; beloved grandchildren Cody Scribner and Briana (Fiancé Dave Ranella) Keller; siblings Pete Tocco, Mary Jerzewski, Sr. Domenica (Flo) Tocco, and Grace Muszynski.
