Obituary

Sandra Lynn Bonk, longtime resident of Clinton Township, passed away on May 16, 2021. She was 76 years of age.

Sandra was born on April 19, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Ralph and June (Piersol) Relander. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Gerald, on May 5, 1966 in Detroit. The couple made their home in Clinton Township and their union was blessed with three children of whom they loved and cherished. She loved collecting antiques and at one point, she owned and operated Victoria Estate Sales company with her mother, June, for many years. Sandra loved when the warm summer months came and tending to her garden and koi pond with great care. She loved nature and the beauty of birds; and would watch the Nature Shows all day long. Her favorite place to visit was Port Austin in Michigan's thumb region where she enjoyed the beauty of the lake and fishing. Sandra's ultimate joy was her grandchildren who were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed and cherished every moment in their company. Sandra will always be known for her outgoing and friendly personality. She will be deeply missed and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Sandra was the loving wife of the late Gerald; dearest mother of Robert, Jeffery (Erika), and Danielle (Michael) Trombley; cherished granny of Alicia, Zachary, Noah, Madelaina and Tyler; dear sister of the late Tim and Tom Relander; and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Monday from 4pm until the service at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to:

Sandy was a woman you only come cross once in a lifetime. She knew what it was to make a heaven on earth for her husband, her children and for anyone lucky enough to have called her their friend! Godspeed sweetheart and may heavenly angels sing thee to thy rest .πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

One of the greatest attributes of Sandy Bonk was her easy laugh and quirky sense of humor. She showed grace in hard times with self deprecating jokes. As a child I enjoyed going to her house, which was always welcoming and comfortable. She taught my sister and I a secret gibberish language which we regularly used to annoy our mother. Although it has been many years since the family has gathered, I remember those times with fondness. Sandy was an excellent mother. She will be missed.

Jenny, I really enjoyed reading your comment. That’s cute about the gibberish, and she did have a great laugh. Erika Bonk
