Deborah Ann Bookout, resident of Fraser and longtime resident of Warren, died peacefully May 23, 2021. She has received her victor's crown and her robe of righteousness. Debby was 69 years of age.

Debby was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 22, 1951, daughter of the late Edward and Leota (Barrett) Borlase. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Philip Harrison Bookout, on November 9, 1973 at Ryan Road Baptist Church of Warren. The couple made their home in Warren and their union was blessed with two handsome boys of whom she loved and cherished. Debby dedicated her life to her family and was the epitome of a great mother and devoted wife. Her family always came first and she made sure her children were raised with Christian values in a loving home. Debby had a kindred spirit and a heart of gold. She enjoyed helping others and put her passion to work, by receiving her degree in nursing. She worked for South Macomb Hospital for many years. Debby also loved children and went on a mission; and became the Director on New Life Day Care Center of Warren for many years until her MS made her retire in 1991. Her Multiple Sclerosis never kept her down, because not only was she was a fighter but her love and admiration of her grandchildren kept her going! Debby lived life with a purpose. She was not only an inspiration but a role model to her children and grandchildren, and to the countless people that she has touched in her lifetime. Debby understood the value of friendship and the compassion and love that she extended to others was a blessing. Although we grieve her passing, we are eternally grateful for our beautiful matriarch who taught us to be more caring, compassionate and loving. Her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Deborah is the loving wife of 48 years to Philip; dearest mother of Michael (Karen) and Timothy (Stephanie); cherished grandmother of Addison, Connor, Lathan and Camden; beloved sister of her twin Dianne (Bruce) Sachs, Laura (Steve) Spurgeon and Gary Borlase; and Sister In-law Sue (Larry) May, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Wednesday 2pm - 8pm. A funeral will be celebrated at Warren Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday at 1pm with additional visitation at church starting at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be addressed in Deborah's memory at the Polio Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Share memories with family at

The world was a better place with Debby Bookout. Even though I hadnt seen her in years, her fb posts still reflected her strong faith in God, love of her family & friends, wit, humor, enjoying life, enjoying her time with her children & grandchildren, desire to help others. I never saw her use her polio as a crutch to enjoying life & blessing others with all of her attributes. I have many fond memories of Debby, especially the summers I worked for her & with her at the New Life Daycare in Warren. I am forever blessed to have known such a beautiful, godly woman inside & out. To Phil, Michael & Tim, I will keep you in my prayers that God's love & peace will sustain your broken hearts in the coming days. "For the Lord hath comforted His people, & will have mercy upon His afflicted. " Isaiah 49:13b This quote reminds me of Debby, "It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Ralph Waldo Emmerson God bless you all, Lori Piccalo Long

We worked at Doctor H office together 50 years ago & 5 of us were excited for reunion Monday. We reminisced & said a prayer in Debby's honor, She was a wonderful lady. Regrets we didn't get together sooner. Fond memories, Condolences to the family.
