Debby was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 22, 1951, daughter of the late Edward and Leota (Barrett) Borlase. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Philip Harrison Bookout, on November 9, 1973 at Ryan Road Baptist Church of Warren. The couple made their home in Warren and their union was blessed with two handsome boys of whom she loved and cherished. Debby dedicated her life to her family and was the epitome of a great mother and devoted wife. Her family always came first and she made sure her children were raised with Christian values in a loving home. Debby had a kindred spirit and a heart of gold. She enjoyed helping others and put her passion to work, by receiving her degree in nursing. She worked for South Macomb Hospital for many years. Debby also loved children and went on a mission; and became the Director on New Life Day Care Center of Warren for many years until her MS made her retire in 1991. Her Multiple Sclerosis never kept her down, because not only was she was a fighter but her love and admiration of her grandchildren kept her going! Debby lived life with a purpose. She was not only an inspiration but a role model to her children and grandchildren, and to the countless people that she has touched in her lifetime. Debby understood the value of friendship and the compassion and love that she extended to others was a blessing. Although we grieve her passing, we are eternally grateful for our beautiful matriarch who taught us to be more caring, compassionate and loving. Her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
