Obituary

Carl Otto Wassmann, longtime resident of Clinton Township, died peacefully June 6, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family. He was 97 years of age.

Carl was born in his family home in Forest Park, Illinois, on May 8, 1924, son of the late Otto and Hertha (Ludwikofsky) Wassmann. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Elizabeth Langenbach, on May 8, 1948 in Germany. The couple resided in Detroit until making their home in Clinton Township in 1954. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children of whom he loved and cherished. Carl always made sure the family was well provided for. He had a successful career at General Motor Company as a Mechanical Engineer for over 30 dedicated years. Carl absolutely loved doing yardwork and was known as “Carl the Woodsman.” He was an avid skier and reader; and enjoyed golf. Carl had a wonderful, but dry, sense of humor. Above all, he was a family man who was a great provider, adored his grandchildren, loved his wife and cherished his children. Carl will be greatly missed and his light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.

Carl is the beloved husband of 73 years to Elizabeth; dearest father of Gloria (Charles) Cardamone, Kimberly (Jon) Roggatz and the late Randolph; cherished grandfather of David, Ryan, Rachel (Christopher), Lisa (Shane), Jason, Carl (Jennifer) and Sharilyn; adored great grandfather of Piper, Bazil, Raegan, Andrew, Alexandria, Bailey, Lucas, Liam, Landon and Ava; and dear brother of the late Frederick (Oliva).

Visitation will be held on Thursday 5pm – 8pm at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be addressed to the Alzheimer Association. Share memories at Faulmannwalsh.com

I’ll never forget my Grandpa dropping off donuts and 2 dollars for me and my siblings every Saturday morning!! Or all the Tigers games he took me to and the ice skating we did together. He was an amazing man and I feel very grateful that he was my Grandpa. I cherish all the great memories he left me with.
