Doris M. Crawley (nee Morrisey), a longtime resident of Eastpointe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. She was 95 years old.
Doris was born on May 14, 1926 in Detroit to Daniel and Ida (nee Klavekofske) Morrisey. She met and later married the love of her life, Michael Crawley on August 25, 1951 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Detroit. Doris worked for a time at Bluebird Gift Shop in Detroit and Montgomery-Wards in Detroit, a later in her life at the Flower Cart florist in Berkley. Doris was an avid Detroit Tigers and Red Wings fan and rarely missed a televised game; if the Tigers or Wings lost, Doris was not happy. She also loved to dance, collect Boyds Bears and Lenox Birds, sewing, socializing with friends and family, taking bus trips to the casino, was a daily mall walker, and gardening. Doris was also a longtime member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Detroit and was a past member of the Alter Society. She loved not only her family but also her growing “adopted” family. Doris was truly a kind and caring woman who never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Doris is survived by her loving daughter Karen (the Late Kenneth) Kaufman; beloved granddaughter Kimberly (fiancé Michael Caravello) Kaufman; dear godson Richard Mizer; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, “adopted” family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Michael Crawley, godson Allan Zalewski, and siblings Daniel Morrisey, Lillian Zalewski, Norman Morrisey, Edith Mizer, and William Morrisey.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11am with a memorial gathering beginning at 10am at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026. A private interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
