Barbara Jean Stecker, longtime resident of Warren, died on May 28, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 75 years of age. She has now won the crown of glory with her Lord and Savior.
Barbara was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania on August 26, 1946, daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Mehall) Richter. She was baptized into Christ on August 26, 1946, at St. John Catholic Church of Uniontown. She was a 1964 High School Graduate of High School of Commerce in Detroit, Michigan. She received an Associate Degree from University of Detroit in Finance. Barbara was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Richard Arthur Stecker, on March 6, 1971, at Hope Lutheran Church of Warren. The couple made their home in Warren and their union was blessed with two wonderful children of whom she loved and cherished. She was blessed, as well, with two loving stepchildren in her life. Barb provided a loving home with Christian values. She loved the Lord and loved being a part of the Lutheran Community; especially enjoying her bible studies. Barbara worked for H & R Block for 30 years doing Income Taxes for clients. She was an avid reader who enjoyed camping with her family and friends. Barb always looked forward to her next cruise and adventure. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and treasured every moment in their company. Barbara will always be known for her beautiful smile and her words of comfort and joy. She will be deeply missed, and her light will continue to glow in our hearts forever.
Barbara is the loving wife of 51 years to Richard; dearest mother of Kimberly Ann (Matthew) Moran and Kurt Eric Stecker; dear stepmother of Pamela (Keith) Crandall and Richard (Peggy) Stecker Jr.; cherished grandmother of Lily Barbara and Heidi Lynda Moran, Zachary Keith (Taylor) Crandall, Georgia (David) Brockmann and Buddy Stecker; adored great grandmother of Hannah Stiles; beloved sister of Jim (Gail) Richter, Daniel (Debbie) Richter, Yvonne (Russ) Grahl and the late Gregory Richter; and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Thursday 2pm -8pm. A funeral will be held at Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, 1345 Gratiot Avenue, Detroit, MI 48207, on Friday at 11am with visitation starting at 10am.
